Welcome To Bouganvillea Apartment

Kalkan, Turkey

Kalkan - A Painter's Dream

This peaceful picturesque fishing village situated on Turkey’s Lycian Coast, is overflowing with pretty whitewashed buildings, cobbled streets, with Bouganvillea tumbling in abundance. There are  numerous well established restaurants in the old village and on the harbour to suit all tastes –  traditional Turkish, Fish,English or Italian cuisine, with gorgeous views across the bay. There are plenty of atmospheric bars playing jazz, blues and classical music. The pretty village has numerous boutique style shops selling everything from antiques, jewellery, kilim's to locally produced arts and crafts. A shopper’s paradise!

The locals are friendly people and are eager to make your holiday a special one. Nothing seems to be too much trouble!

They are very proud of their historic, quaint village and they ensure that the strict building/traffic regulations are adhered to maintaining the tranquillity of the old fishing village.

Kalkan offers a choice of beaches. A public pebble beach stretches along the  harbour front where the water is crystal clear. Alternatively several beach clubs along the coastline offer sunbathing, swimming and water sports. These can be reached on foot or by a short taxi ride where one can spend a lazy day doing as much or as little as you wish.

Alternatively Kapatus Beach is a 10 min Dolmus(bus)ride offering a perfect sandy beach positioned on the crescent of a ravine.

Patara (shown below), is a little further away, but is worthy of a visit. This is one of Turkeys most famous and photographed beaches, with 11 miles of unspoilt sand, surrounded by ancient Lycian Ruins.
